The sky as it was, on your night

Questions
How accurate is the star map?
The stars are placed for the city, date and time you choose, in that city's local time (daylight saving included), corrected for the slow drift of the sky over the years. About 5,000 of the brightest stars are drawn, and only those above the horizon at that moment, with constellation lines as a guide.
Which time should I choose?
The time you remember, if you know it. If not, 22:00 local time gives a typical evening sky. The sky turns about 15° an hour, so another hour gives a slightly different picture of the same night.
Are the Moon and the planets shown?
No. The map shows the stars and the constellation lines; the Moon and the planets move from night to night and are not drawn.
Can I change it after buying?
Yes. Edit your design and download again as often as you like; a design for someone else needs a new licence. One licence covers one star map: the same place and date – names, words, time, colours and sizes can change.
Can I make a map of places instead?
Yes – tap “Map of places” at the top to put two or three countries on one print with hearts on your cities. It is the same tool and the same price.
What happens to my data?
Your design is made in your browser and is only saved in the page link and in this browser. Nothing you type is uploaded. When you unlock, only the licence key is sent, to check it with Gumroad. See our privacy page.
